Library Circulation


 

The Circulation department at SWAGºÏ¼¯ Library Learning Center provides personalized support for students, faculty, staff, and the broader campus community. We handle access to library materials, course reserves, TexShare cards, and interlbrary loan for our users.

What Does Circulation Do?

Circulating library materials
Processing and distributing Course Reserve & Interlibrary Loan items
Processing overdue and lost books
Processing and collecting library fines
Assisting patrons with informational/directional questions
Creating patron accounts
Processing TexShare Card requests
Collection maintenance & re-shelving books

Who Can Borrow?

SWAGºÏ¼¯ students, faculty, staff, and alumni (with a photo ID & Tiger Card) can borrow with some restrictions. Alumni must register with Alumni Relations to confirm status. Visitors/community may use spaces, but need a TexShare card to check out materials. Note: Alumni access is limited; no remote database/ILL privileges.

What Doesn’t Circulate?

Journals, newspapers, media, theses/dissertations in Heartman, reference materials, microforms, and Heartman Collection items.

How Long Can I Keep Materials?

Students can keep items for 3 weeks (1 renewal). Faculty/staff: 3 months (unlimited renewals). Alumni & TexShare: 2 weeks (no renewal). Renew online at .

Office Supplies Checkout

Dry erase markers for whiteboards: 2 hour checkout (renew for 2 more if available)
Available at the Circulation & Reserves desk (Room 117, 1st floor)
SWAGºÏ¼¯ ID required
In-library use only
Return markers to the desk during open hours
Lost markers: $2.50 replacement fee

Where Do I Return Items?

Return items at service desks or drop slots outside the main entrance, near Starbucks, and inside by the elevator
Reserve items must be handed to a staff member
Never use the book drop for DVDs or CDs—damage may incur charges

Course Reserves

Find your by intructor's name or course number
Reserve materials (faculty or library-owned) are kept behind the Circulation Desk 
Checked out for 2-hour intervals

Fines & Fees

General collection: $0.25/day per book
Reserve materials: $1.00/hour (max $10/day/item)
Lost items: replacement cost + $20 processing
Pay at the Bursar’s Office (Bell Building, M–F, 8am–5pm), then bring receipt to Circulation Desk for record clearing

TexShare Cards: Borrow Across Texas

SWAGºÏ¼¯ students, faculty, and staff in good standing can get a TexShare Card at the Circulation Desk (M–F, 8am–5pm)
The card lets you borrow at participating Texas libraries
Return all borrowed books to the lending library and settle all fines directly

TexShare Card Holder Policies

Bring both university ID and TexShare Card to borrow materials
Books: 2-week loan, no renewal, max 5 items
No renewals, recalls may shorten loan periods
Reference, special collections, media, microforms do not circulate
Overdue fines: $1/day per book
Lost books: replacement + $15 fee
Outstanding fines/charges must be paid promptly
